OCTOBER 2003
TIP FOR THE MONTH
Hello!
I've been training regularly to get into good shape for the exercise video I'll
be filming in November. Most of my training has been with clients for the
Zane Experience program and I've been training three days in a row then taking a
few days rest. But after a busy schedule of consecutive clients, I began
to feel a bit over- trained a few weeks ago. So, keeping my usual three
way split routine of torso on day one, legs on day two, and arms on day three,
with ab work and dog walking at the end of each session, I began doing my
routine every other day with only one set of each exercise. But it was a
very special kind of set: A drop set where I'd use a weight that allowed
me 12 reps and then as quickly as possible I'd reduce the weight 5 to 15 pounds
(depending on the exercise) and do 8 more reps. By the end of this "double
drop set" I'd feel a burn and ended up very pumped at the end of my workouts
from training this way. It's not how many sets you do, it's how you do
them. And it sure is a lot more fun doing only one set of each exercise.
I intend to keep this up for as long as it's productive.
I'm looking forward to teaching my
first class "Change Your Body, Change Your Life" at the Learning Annex in San
Diego October 16th. For information log on to
www.learningannex.com or call
619-544-9700. Not long afterwards, Christine and I leave for the Mr.
Olympia contest at Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, where I'll have a
booth October 24th and 25th. Hope to see you there.
Train Hard,
Frank Zane
